We were proud to have been part of the Andersonville Purim Carnival, a joyful and vibrant celebration that brought families together for a morning full of fun, creativity, and community spirit. The day kicked off with a kid-powered retelling of the Purim story by the children of Emanuel Congregation, setting the tone for a festive and meaningful gathering.Throughout the event, Chicago Jewish Alliance joined local organizations in hosting hands-on activities, crafts, and storytelling that made Purim come alive for kids and adults alike.
From enjoying sweet hamantaschen to making goodie bags and cooling off with shaved ice, the energy was high and the smiles were everywhere.
It was a wonderful reminder of the power of community collaboration and Jewish joy, and we were honored to celebrate Purim together in the heart of Andersonville. -

Recap: International Holocaust Remembrance Day and Press Event
Posted by Eli Citron · February 16, 2026 1:59 PM
This night in Northbrook was not just another event. It was a moral correction.
We created this program because the Holocaust was recently turned into an allegory for immigration and modern politics. That distortion demanded a response rooted in truth. Six million Jews were systematically hunted, eradicated, and turned to smoke. That history is not a metaphor. It is a uniquely Jewish catastrophe and it must be treated with precision.
That is why we placed a billboard in downtown Northbrook. Anyone who has seen slogans or distortions can stop, scan, and see the truth of the Holocaust for themselves. History belongs in public view, not repurposed for political narratives.
Daniel Schwartz, President of the Chicago Jewish Alliance, opened the evening by grounding the room in responsibility and memory. Jeff Kaminsky, a Northbrook resident and founder of Project Aid and Rescue, spoke powerfully about the danger of co opting Holocaust narratives. The Rabbi of Chabad of Northbrook reminded us that Jewish continuity is intentional and lived. Susan Haggard, Vice President of Events at the Chicago Jewish Alliance, once again turned conviction into reality.
And then Sami Steigmann spoke directly to our youth. He shared his life, his survival, and the meaning of Jewish resilience. Not abstract history. Lived truth.
The night ended in a standing ovation. Not for applause, but for shared responsibility. To remember accurately. To teach honestly. To protect Jewish history.
Presented in partnership with the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
The billboard remains downtown Northbrook for anyone who wants truth instead of slogans.
This is why we remember.

Recap: TurnSpeak Webinar – Navigating Conversations About Israel
Posted by Eli Citron · February 16, 2026 1:50 PM
Words matter. And this week, our community showed up to learn how to use them wisely.
On Thursday, February 5, the Chicago Jewish Alliance, in partnership with the Rhode Island Coalition for Israel, hosted a powerful TurnSpeak webinar, Navigating Conversations About Israel, bringing together community members from across the country for an urgent and timely conversation.
Led by Dr. Charles Jacobs—a Harvard graduate and co-founder of CAMERA and The David Project—the session tackled one of the biggest challenges facing Jewish communities and allies today: how language is weaponized to distort facts, reshape narratives, and assign false moral blame when discussing Israel.
Participants gained a deeper understanding of how misinformation spreads, how emotionally charged framing can shift public perception, and, most importantly, how to respond with clarity, confidence, and truth. Dr. Jacobs offered practical tools and real-world examples to help attendees stay grounded in facts while navigating difficult conversations in workplaces, schools, online spaces, and beyond.
This webinar wasn’t just about theory—it was about empowerment. Attendees walked away better equipped to push back against antisemitism, challenge misleading narratives, and speak up with conviction in a climate where silence often feels easier, but truth is more necessary than ever.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make this training such a meaningful and impactful experience. More opportunities like this are coming soon—because now more than ever, how we speak matters.
