The Chicago Jewish Alliance invites you to join the Rhode Island Coalition for Israel (RICI) for an important update on antisemitism featuring nationally acclaimed author and expert Dr. Andrew Pessin. This event is presented in collaboration with the Massachusetts Antisemitism Synagogue Task Force, Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation, and The Mattathias Project.

Dr. Andrew Pessin is Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College and formerly served for many years as Campus Bureau Editor for The Algemeiner. He most recently founded the Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism. An author of numerous academic articles and books, as well as works of philosophy for a general audience, his titles include Israel Breathes, World Condemns (2 vols.); Refuting the Lies Told About Israel; Anti-Zionism on Campus: The University, Free Speech, and BDS; Poisoning the Wells: Antisemitism in America; and The Jewish God Question: What Jewish Thinkers Have Said About God, the Book, the People, and the Land.

His articles address many aspects of the campus environment for Jewish students and Israel supporters, including the question of whether anti-Zionism is antisemitism (the short answer is that it is). Most recently, he has been producing a weekly ten-minute podcast highlighting the week’s campus antisemitism, available via his Substack.

Dr. Pessin has also published four novels, including Nevergreen (2021), an academic satire about campus cancel culture and its harmful effects on Jewish life. Unfortunately, it proved prophetic when campuses erupted against Israel and Jews after the October 7 massacre. His most recent novel, Bright College Years (2024), explores how college campuses used to be before today’s climate took hold.
