Stand with the Chicago Jewish Alliance & Support the Chicago Loop Synagogue
Chicago Jewish Alliance and the Israeli-American Council hosted an event at the Chicago Loop Synagogue to welcome Arab-Israeli speaker Yoseph Haddad. November 6, protestors planned a counter protest. Haddad shared his perspective on Israel. We planned to conclude the evening with prayers for Israel and its soldiers.
Unfortunately, the evening took a tragic turn. A group of anti-Israel protestors gathered outside the synagogue—a sacred place of worship—and their actions disrupted our event in deeply troubling ways:
They blocked attendees from entering and exiting the synagogue.
Some protestors infiltrated the event, yelling and frightening attendees who had come together in peace and solidarity.
The protest caused physical damage to the synagogue, including smashing a door hinge so severely that the synagogue’s main doors now require complete replacement.
This was not just an attack on a gathering but a violation of our freedom to worship and assemble. Synagogues are sacred spaces, and this incident is a painful reminder of the challenges we face as a community.
👉 We Need Your Help!
The Chicago Jewish Alliance is raising $3,600 to cover the cost of repairing the synagogue’s doors and restoring the space where we gather to pray and unite.
👉 How You Can Help:
💙 Donate to help us reach our $3,600 goal and repair the damage caused. Every dollar counts toward restoring our place of worship.
💙 Share this message to raise awareness about the incident and encourage others to support.
💙 Stand with us by continuing to attend events and support peaceful gatherings in our community.
Let’s come together to show that acts of hate cannot break our spirit.
