Jonathan Elkhoury

Join Us for an Inspiring Evening with Jonathan Elkhoury

6:00 PM | Monday, March 3rd, 2025 | Ravenswood, Chicago, IL

Discover the remarkable journey of Jonathan Elkhoury, a Lebanese refugee, Israeli citizen, Christian Arab, and LGBTQ+ activist, as he shares his personal story and perspective on coexistence and diversity in Israel. Born into a family forced to flee Lebanon for Israel after the Lebanese Civil War due to his father’s service in the South Lebanon Army (SLA), Jonathan has become a leading voice advocating for unity and understanding in one of the world’s most complex regions.

This free event will feature a presentation by Jonathan, followed by an engaging Q&A session moderated by Josh Weiner, Chief Strategy and Advocacy Officer of the Chicago Jewish Alliance (CJA), co-founder and board member of CJA, and a proud member of both the gay and Jewish communities. Josh will bring his unique perspective as someone who has faced challenges being a Zionist and gay man in Chicago, leading a conversation about the intersection of identity, advocacy, and hope for peace.

Why Attend?

This event underscores the diversity within Israeli society and its capacity for inclusion across lines of religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. It’s an opportunity to hear firsthand about the challenges and triumphs of building bridges between communities and standing against hate. Together, we will explore themes of unity, resilience, and the power of advocacy in the face of adversity.
